Where Control4 fits

Innov8av is a certified Control4 integrator serving all of Los Angeles County — installation, programming, service, repair and system takeover under one licensed team (CA ACO 7755, C-10).

Our work

What Innov8av does with Control4

Innov8av designs, installs and programs Control4 systems of every size — from a single-room controller to whole-estate deployments with lighting scenes, motorized shades, distributed audio/video, climate, cameras, access control and one-app control. As a certified dealer we can add drivers, re-program scenes, update OS3, replace controllers (EA-1/EA-3/EA-5/CORE), and integrate new third-party devices.

Service & repair

Control4 problems we fix

We service and repair Control4 systems whether we installed them or not. Common issues we resolve:

  • Control4 controller offline / won't connect (EA-1, EA-3, EA-5, CORE controllers)
  • Remotes or touchscreens not responding or frozen
  • Scenes, lighting or shades that stopped working after an update or Wi-Fi change
  • OS2 → OS3 upgrades and account migration
  • Adding new devices (locks, thermostats, cameras, TVs) to an existing project
  • Composer programming errors, missing drivers, dealer-locked projects
  • No 4Sight / remote access working

Send a photo of the equipment or the error and we will tell you if it is a quick fix, a part, or a redesign — before we roll a truck.

Dealer left?

Orphaned Control4 system? We adopt it.

This is the query we hear most: "my Control4 dealer went out of business / stopped answering — who can service my system?" Innov8av regularly adopts orphaned Control4 projects. Because we are a certified dealer, we can take over the project file, become your dealer of record, restore 4Sight remote access, re-program scenes and support the system going forward — you do not have to rip it out and start over.

How it works

How a Control4 dealer transfer actually works

Control4 is a dealer-gated platform: the configuration lives in Composer Pro, so a general AV handyman cannot change the programming no matter how capable they are with the hardware. That surprises people, but the practical consequence is good news — any dealer can take over any system, regardless of who installed it. Here is the sequence, so you can hold whoever you hire to it.

  1. Identify the controller. Read the model off the rack — EA-1, EA-3, EA-5 or a CORE 3/5/10. This determines whether you are on OS 3 or an older release, and pre-OS-3 systems sometimes need a paid upgrade before much else is possible.
  2. Reassign the dealer of record. The account holder requests the change through the Control4 customer portal or manufacturer support. Once reassigned, the new dealer can pull your system's project file and connect remotely.
  3. Recover the project file. If the previous dealer is still trading, a written request to release the project file is worth making — rebuilding programming from scratch costs far more than transferring it. If they are gone, we re-document the system and rebuild what is missing.
  4. Restore remote access. 4Sight subscription status, account e-mail ownership and app logins are checked and moved into your name, not ours.
  5. Test and hand over. Every scene, keypad and schedule is tested before we leave, and you receive the credentials and documentation.

Two things resolve a surprising share of "Control4 is broken" calls before any of that is needed: power-cycle the controller rather than the touchscreen, and check whether your router or ISP gateway has been swapped or reset — a new gateway hands out new addresses and orphans every IP-controlled device on the system at once. If a new internet installation preceded your problem, that is almost certainly the cause, and it is a network fix rather than an automation fix.

Why us

Why a licensed integrator for Control4

Control4 is dealer-locked by design — only a certified Control4 dealer can program it. Innov8av holds that certification plus a California C-10 electrical license and ACO 7755 alarm license, so we handle the low-voltage, the electrical and the security integration legally under one roof, with the same technicians for install and service.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you service a Control4 system you didn't install?

Yes. As a certified Control4 dealer we regularly take over systems installed by other companies, become your dealer of record, restore remote access and re-program scenes. Send us the controller model and we'll scope it.

My Control4 dealer disappeared — am I stuck?

No. This is one of our most common calls. We adopt orphaned Control4 projects across LA, take over the project file and support the system going forward so you don't have to replace it.

Do you upgrade Control4 OS2 to OS3?

Yes — we handle OS2→OS3 upgrades, controller replacements (EA to CORE), account migration and driver updates, and we test every scene before we leave.

How much does Control4 service cost in Los Angeles?

Diagnostic visits and small fixes are quoted up front; larger reprogramming or takeover is itemized after a free assessment. Smart home projects range $5,000–$100,000+ depending on scope; service is far less.

Are you a certified Control4 dealer?

Yes — Innov8av is a certified Control4 dealer and integrator serving Los Angeles County since 2016, licensed (ACO 7755, C-10), insured and bonded, rated 5.0/5 by verified clients.

Who can fix or service my Control4 system in Los Angeles?

Any Control4 dealer can service any Control4 system, including one installed by a company that has closed — the platform is dealer-gated, not company-locked. What you need is a dealer who will take over the dealer-of-record assignment and pull your existing project file rather than starting from scratch. Innov8av does this across Los Angeles County: controller diagnosis, re-programming, OS upgrades, remote-access restoration and full takeover. Licensed C-10 and ACO 7755, since 2016.

How do I transfer my Control4 dealer of record to a new company?

The account holder requests the reassignment through the Control4 customer portal or manufacturer support, naming the incoming dealer. Once it is processed the new dealer can access your system's project file and connect remotely. We handle the paperwork side and tell you exactly what to send. If your previous dealer is still trading, we will also draft the request asking them to release the project file, which usually saves several hours of rebuild time.

My Control4 stopped working after I changed internet providers. Is the system broken?

Usually not. A new ISP gateway or a reset router re-issues network addresses and orphans every IP-controlled device — controller, touchscreens, matrix, cameras, thermostats — at the same time. It looks like total system failure and is normally a network reconfiguration rather than an automation repair. Power-cycle the controller itself first; if that does not restore it, the fix is at the router and switch layer, which is work we do as part of the same visit.

Can Control4 be serviced remotely, or does someone have to come out?

A great deal can be diagnosed remotely once dealer access is in place — connection status, driver faults, programming errors and OS versions are all visible without a truck. Physical faults (a dead controller, a failed power supply, damaged cabling, a swapped router) need a visit. We diagnose remotely first wherever the system is still reachable, so you are not paying for a truck roll to discover a software problem.
