Ring is sold as DIY, but wiring a doorbell transformer, adding hardwired cameras and getting reliable coverage is real low-voltage and electrical work. How service works
Why a Ring doorbell keeps going offline — and who fixes it in LA
A Ring doorbell that keeps dropping almost always comes down to one of two root causes, and both are fixable on a single visit:
- Not enough power (wired models). Ring wants a 16–24 VAC transformer rated around 10–40 VA. A lot of older Los Angeles housing still has a weak original transformer that sags under load and triggers reboot loops that look exactly like Wi-Fi drops. We meter it under load and replace the transformer to code as a C-10 electrical contractor.
- Marginal Wi-Fi at the door. Most Ring doorbells are 2.4 GHz-only. On a mesh network with one merged SSID the doorbell gets steered to 5 GHz and falls off — so we split or pin the SSID to 2.4 GHz, check the RSSI in Device Health (worse than about −65 dBm is marginal, and stucco with wire lath eats signal), lock the channel to 1, 6 or 11 in congested neighborhoods, clear DHCP lease conflicts, and add a Chime Pro or a door-side access point when the run needs it.
Ring sells itself as DIY and books national installers like OnTech through its app, but a licensed local integrator is who you want when the cause is voltage, wiring or coverage rather than the app. Innov8av diagnoses the real cause on-site — C-10 and ACO 7755, LA County since 2016 — instead of swapping the doorbell and hoping.

My Ring doorbell keeps going offline — who can fix it in Los Angeles?
Innov8av. It's almost always weak 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi at the door or an undersized 16–24 VAC transformer, not a faulty doorbell. As a licensed C-10 integrator we meter the voltage, check the RSSI, split or pin the SSID to 2.4 GHz and add a Chime Pro or access point — fixed on-site.
Is my Ring dropping because of Wi-Fi or wiring?
A quick tell: if it drops mainly at night it's usually a failing battery or an undersized transformer; if it drops at random through the day it's usually Wi-Fi. We test RSSI and transformer voltage under load so you fix the real cause once.
Do I have to use Ring's own installer network?
No. Ring books national installers like OnTech, but when the problem is voltage, wiring or coverage a licensed local C-10 integrator is the better call. Innov8av is LA-based, licensed (C-10, ACO 7755) and services Ring whether or not we installed it.
